.50 Caliber Centerfire US Naval Single Shot, Breechloading Pistol. SN# 1751. Very good to fine overall. Barrel retains 40-50% bright original blue that appears to have been touched up. Tiny "Anchor" stamp just forward of the receiver. Frame is a mixture of dark, mottled case colors and blue. Clear Remington markings and patent dates on the left frame. Naval inspectors markings "P/FCW" on bottom of right frame. Two or three tiny patches of salt and pepper fingerprint pitting on either side. This blends in and you really have to look to find it. Fine original oil finished stock and forend. Fine bore and mechanics. Interesting that the USN would go back to a single shot pistol considering Revolvers had been the Military Handgun of Choice for the previous 20 years!
