SCARCE TYPE I BACON MFG. CO. NAVY REVOLVER

Description :
.38 Rimfire, Six Shot Single Action Revolver. 7 1/2 Inch Octagon Barrel with a tiny "Bacon Mfg Co. Norwick, Conn" marking just forward of the frame. Revolver appears to be a percussion revolver at first glance because of the hinged lever cylinder pin has the look of a loading lever. This is because the revolver has no loading gate and the cylinder must be removed to be loaded and reloaded. Spur trigger style frame. Smooth steel gray overall with 10-15% original blue in protected areas. Broad scroll factory engraving on the back of the frame. The cylinder has a knurled knob on the back of it which Mr. Flayderman states is a varient intended by Bacon to get around the Smith and Wesson bore thru cylinder patent. Fine two piece walnut grips. Fine bore, excellent mechanics. Considered a Civil War Secondary Martial Pistol. Scarce! First one I've ever had.
