HANDSOME POST 1811 3RD MODEL BROWN BESS FLINTLOCK MUSKET
Description :
.75 Caliber, Smoothbore Birmingham Manufactured Commercial Brown Bess still in the original Flintlock Configuration. 39 Inch barrel is a smooth mixture of plum and steel patina. Crisp Birmingham and "BC&C" proofs on breech (Blair & Co.) underneath a drooped winged "Eagle" with liberty cap proof which I am not familiar with. Lock has sharp "Tower" and "Crown" markings. Excellent mechanics, bore would probably clean to good. Handsome golden brass furniture. Original ram rod but missing the sling swivels. Very good oil finished stock with "IP" inspection initials to the rear of the trigger guard. These Brown Bess Muskets went everywhere, into almost every military service in the early 19th Century. Fine example.
