RARE CIVIL WAR BALLARD US CONTRACT CARBINE

.44 Rimfire Caliber Single Shot Breechloading US Cavalry Carbine. SN# 10081. One of the 1,500 delivered from March to August 1864. 22 Inch octagon to round barrel inspected "MM" on the left flat. Two leaf flip up rear sight. Barrel, frame, band and lever are all a smooth gray steel patina. Frame marked with Ball and Williams address and inspected, "G.H". Fine mechanics, good bore. Retains both sling swivels on band and on butt stock. Stock and forend are in very good condition. There is a cartouche which I don't believe is right on the left of the butt, "WW". Very scarce Civil War Carbine.
