1807 JOSEPH HENRY US CONTRACT FLINTLOCK PISTOL

.54 Caliber Smoothbore US Military Pistol. 10 1/4 Inch round barrel marked "J. Henry Phila" along the centerline and has a sunken "P" proof surmounted by an Eaglehead. 5 inch Flint Lock is simply stamped "J.Henry/Phila" to the rear of the hammer and "US" in the center near the bottom of the lock. Golden brass furniture at pommel cap, trigger guard ram rod pipes and side plate. These are of a simple, Spartan military style. Fine full length walnut stock with very good edges around the lock and flats. Ramrod is of the correct wooden style and shape but I believe it to be a replacement. Very rare with only a total of 750 pairs being ordered and no report of how many were actually delivered. The entire order only encompassed 1807-1808.
