Description :

.65 Caliber Smoothbore American Officers Flintlock Fusil. 57 Inches overall with a two step 41 1/2 inch barrel. Barrel is a handsome, bright smooth plum patina. No proofs. Fine 5 1/4 inch Ketland & Co. Flint Lock. It too has the bright matching plum patina as the barrel. Fusil is set up like a small Second Model Brown Bess Musket. Brass furniture with stepped butt plate, 10 inch decorated trigger guard and Central Pennsylvania style Sturgeon shaped side plate. Original ram rod is held by three brass pipe with the front one having the Pratt Trumpet shaped swell. Fine oil finished light walnut full stock. Almost certainly made in York County Pa. by one of the famous makers there, Martin Fry or Frederick Zorger. Very handsome and untouched. My guess is somewhere between 1785-1795.
