Item No.: 5339 Price : $9,500.00
Item : EXTREMELY RARE AMERICAN ASSEMBLED FLINTLOCK OFFICERS PISTOL FROM THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR
Description :
.69 caliber smoothbore with 10 inch barrel. English made barrel with the early cross scepter proofs in center of barrel. Pistol made along lines of a British dragoon pistol of the period. 5 ¼ inch flint lock certainly American made. Both iron barrel and lock are a deep deep blackish brown patina. Trigger guard, buttplate, escutcion, and side plate are all done in paktonge. Paktonge is a Chinese developed alloy used to imitate sterling silver from copper and other base metals. This is faded to a silver and yellow patina. The side plate is engraved “Shairpe”. The escutchion is engraved “No 22”. The American made full stock appears to be of cherry. Sight damage at the left muzzle along ramrod channel. Original iron ramrod. For several very similar examples see pages 266-270 in “Battle Weapons of the American Revolution” by George C. Neumann. Published by Scurlock Publishing 1998. American made muskets of the Revolution are rare, however American made pistols are doubly rare.
