.54 Caliber, Smoothbore Flintlock Re-Conversion of a Very Rare Maryland Contract 1813 Pistol. 10 inch dark smooth plum barrel is unmarked. Museum Quality Re-conversion with original flat plate period lock. Very handsome, plain military style brass furniture with two short ram rod pipes. Fine oil finished walnut stock with a clear "HM" cartouche at the left flat. These pistols were probably made by Henry Deringer under a contract from the State of Maryland in 1813. Two of these very rare pistols are pictured in "Historic Pistols, The American Martial Flintlock 1760-1845" by Samuel E. Smith and Edwin W. Bitter, Pages 280-287.
