This is an original, British 3rd Pattern Brown Bess Flintlock Musket of .75 Caliber. The 3rd Pattern was the final production version of the Bess. These muskets served throughout the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812. This one is in very good condition. The barrel has a smooth brown patina. The lock has been lightly cleaned. There is some pitting around the area of the pan. The brass has been cleaned and is now developing a golden brass patina. The bore is dark with some pitting along its length. The wood is in fine condition, but has been varnished. The sling swivels may have been replaced. This is a great looking musket that displays very well.
