FINE, NAPOLEONIC ERA, FRENCH MODEL AN 13 FLINTLOCK PISTOL
Description :
This is an original French Model AN 13 Flintlock Pistol of about .69 caliber. AN 13 stands for year 13 of the 1st French Empire, which was the year 1805. While adopted in 1805, production began in 1806 and continued until about 1816. They were used into the 1840's. This pistol was produced at St. Etienne in 1812. It is in fine condition. The steel parts have been lightly cleaned, revealing some very light pitting of the bright surface in some areas. The brass has a nice golden patina. The bore remains mostly smooth with some pitting. The stock is fine as well with no chips and just the usual small dings from use. There is a hairline crack on the left side of the grip above the butt cap. The lock and mechanics work well, but the mainspring is very strong. The pistol is covered with military inspection stamps, dates and letters. The lock markings of St. Etienne are clear but faint. This is a nice example of a Napoleonic era pistol. Stock no. 20655
