Here is an original, U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag-Jorgensen Rifle manufactured in 1902 and chambered for the .30-40 Government cartridge. The Model 1898 was manufactured from 1898-1903. Total production was 330,000. It is in fine condition with about 85% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is some light wear overall, mostly on the barrel bands, trigger guard, and butt plate. The receiver retains most of its mottled case hardened finish, with some finish wear on the magazine cover. The bolt is bright with fire blued extractor parts. The bore is fine and the mechanics are excellent. The stock is fine with a crisp "1902" Dated Inspector's Cartouche and Proof marks. There are a few small dings from use and storage.
