Item :	CASED COLT MODEL 1862 POLICE .36 CALIBER PERCUSSION REVOLVER

Description :

This is an original Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver manufactured in 1865. It is a 5-shot, .36 caliber, percussion revolver with a 5 1/2" barrel. It is all mathing including the wedge. The fluted cylinder is unmarked. The revolver is in a fitted dealer case with a flask, iron bullet mold, cap tin, and balls. The revolver is in antique very good condition. It retains just traces of its factory blued finish in protected areas like the cylinder flutes. The remainder of the gun is a steely pewter with significant pitting in some areas. The brass grip straps have a dark bronze patina with darker tarnish in the crevices. The action works well with tight lock up and a crisp trigger. The bore is dark with some pitting, but visible rifling along its length. The grips are in fine condition with no chips or cracks and most of their varnish remaining. The edges of the grips at the butt have worn slightly. The dealer case is in fine condition. It has a pebbled covering that is complete with no tears. The wine colored felt interior is also in fine condition. The small powder flask has a couple of small dents and is heavily tarnished on the side that rests against the felt. The iron bullet mold has a pewter patina and some scattered surface pitting. With its flowing lines and fluted cylinder, many consider the M1862 Police to be the best looking Colt of them all.
