CIVIL WAR .36 CALIBER NAVY METROPOLITAN REVOLVER
Description :
Here is a Civil War Metropolitan Arms Co. Navy Model Revolver of .36 caliber. It is a 6-shot percussion revolver with a 7 1/2" octagonal barrel. Metropolitan produced these from 1864-1866. Only 6,063 were produced. These revolvers are near exact copies of the Colt model 1851 Navy. Metropolitan Arms began producing them after the Colt factory was heavily damaged in a fire in early 1864. This revolver is in very good condition. It has no finish remaining, the metal having a speckled pewter patina. There are some pitted areas in a few places. The brass grip straps have a nice golden bronze patina. The bore is quite good. There are a few small pits, but the rifling is strong throughout. The mechanics work well with tight lock up. One percussion cone is broken off. The grips are in fine condition. They have no chips or cracks. The edges of the butt are more rounded than the grips on a Colt. This is a nice example of a Metropolitan, a revolver that is more scarce than a Colt. Stock no. 21221
