WWII, 1ST BLOCK PRODUCTION INLAND M1 CARBINE
Description :
This is an original, WWII M1 Carbine produced by The Inland Division of General Motors in their first block of production. It was made about October of 1943, with a serial number in the 741,xxx range. The gun is in its original, as-issued WWII configuration, having never undergone an arsenal rebuild. It retains all of its original parts, including a high wood stock, 2 rivet handguard, no bayonet mount, and a flip sight. The carbine is in fine condition. It retains about 95% of its factory parkerized finish. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock remains in fine condition as well. There is a correct Ordnance crossed cannon cartouche on the right side of the butt, as well as an "IO" in the stock cut. The cartouche is double struck, with a faint strike just ahead of the clear strike. The stock cut marking is a little faint and there is no "P" on the pistol grip. The stock has a bit of a sheen. I do not know if this is from being oiled over the years, or if a finish was applied. The Inland made barrel is dated "9-43". Included is one original magazine marked "AI" and an original, early khaki sling. The sling has a bit of fraying on the edges and where it wraps around the front swivel. This is a nice, untouched, WWII Inland Carbine. Stock no. 21374
