U.S. SAGINAW STEERING GEAR M-1 CARBINE
Description :
Here is an original, U.S. M-1 Carbine manufactured by Saginaw Steering Gear in early 1944. The receiver is marked "SAGINAW SG" and the barrel is marked "SAGINAW S.G. DIV." over "GENERAL MOTORS". There is evidence of this carbine being used in Bavarian Police Service. Although not marked Bavarian Police, the serial number is gravered into the top of the bolt and also stamped in the stock cut. The trigger assembly has a reddish hued phosphate finish and is stamped with non-U.S. military letters and numbers. Overall, the carbine is in very good condition. The barrel and receiver retain about 90% of their parkerized finish. The flat topped bolt is blued. As stated, the trigger has been refinished in a reddish phosphate. The butt plate was blued as well. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The high wood stock and 2-rivet hand guard are in fine condition, with the usual small dings and scratches from use. No original markings remain. The gun is fitted with a machined, adjustable rear sight. It has no bayonet mount, with a wide, Type 2 barrel band fitted. Included is one WWII Underwood magazine and an original, very fine, early khaki sling and oiler. Stock no. 21380
