1863 PRODUCTION COLT MODEL 1860 ARMY REVOLVER
Description :
This is an original, Civil War, U.S. Model 1860 Army Revolver manufactured by Colt in 1863. The .44 caliber, percussion Model 1860 was the standard service revolver of the Union Army during the Civil War. By war's end nearly 156,00 had been made. When Colt stopped production of the M1860 in 1873, over 200,000 had been made. They were quite popular and many were carried into the great American West. This one is in very good condition. It has all matching numbers except for the wedge, which is un-numbered. There is no finish remaining, the entire gun having a smooth brown patina. The action works, but there is no half cock. The hammer just barely holds at full cock. Just a whisper on the trigger and the hammer drops. Both the bore and chambers are dark with some pitting, but the rifling is strongly visible. The grips are complete with no chips or cracks, but exhibit some wear from carry. There are no visible inspector's cartouches. This is a weary old veteran of the Civil War. Stock no. 21433
