WINCHESTER .38-40 CALIBER MODEL 1892 RIFLE
Description :
This is an original, Winchester Model 1892 Rifle manufactured in 1904 and chambered for the .38-40 (.38 WCF) cartridge. Produced from 1892-1941, the M1892 was a modern replacement for the Model 1873 Winchester and was offered in the same chamberings. It is basically a scaled down Model 1886. It remains to this day one of the best functioning, best looking lever action rifles ever made. This is a full length rifle with a 24" round barrel. It is in very good condition. It retains about 40% of its factory blued finish. The majority of the remaining finish is on the magazine tube, the protected underside of the barrel, and on the loading gate. The upper side of the barrel has a smooth brown patina. The receiver has a lighter brown coloring with steel showing through. The mechanics on this rifle are excellent with the action locking up tightly. The bore is fair. There is evident pitting, but it has been cleaned and polished. The rifling is visible along the bore's length. The stock is fair. It has been lightly sanded giving it a lighter color. There are a number of small dings and scratches. There is a large chip of wood missing where the comb of the stock meets the butt plate. All in all, this is a good functional '92 Winchester that you can use without worrying about protecting its condition. Stock no. 21939
