Item : OUTSTANDING WWI SMITH AND WESSON MARK II .455 "TRIPLE LOCK" REVOLVER
Description :
.455 Caliber Double Action WWI British Contract Revolver. First Model commonly called the "Triple Lock". These heavy revolvers were ordered by the Government of Great Britain in 1914 and manufactured until 1917 with 74,755 produced. To enable S&W to begin immediate production, the British consented to have the first 5600 revolvers produced in the same design as the .44 Hand Eject First Model, Called the "Triple Lock". Upon receipt of these 5600 revolvers they were considered excessively heavy and design changes were made. This beautiful example is serial number 4907 and on of the first "Triple Locks". Barrel, frame and cylinder retain 99% plus deep lustrious factory blue. Hammer and trigger retain 99-100% vivid case color hardening. Superb diamond checkered grips with gold S&W medallion. A S&W factory letter dated 2014 states this revolver was shipped to Remington-UMC in January 1914. Remington was acting as Great Britains Agent in the US. I guarantee this one never served in the trenches of the Western Front. Beautiful condition, inside and out. Mint bore and mechanics. FFL or C&R. 22355
