Item :	WWII, U.S. REMINGTON MODEL 1903A4 SNIPER RIFLE

Description :

This is an original, WWII production, U.S. Model 1903A4 Sniper Rifle made by Remington in 1944 and chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. It appears to be all correct, with no later re-builds. There is an Ogden Arsenal re-inspection stamp on the left side of the butt, which appears to be the only post-war marking or change. The rifle has the wartime "RA, Ordnance Escutcheon, FJA" cartouche. The FJA is not in a box. There are a number of inspector markings ahead of the trigger guard. The firing proof "P" remains on the pistol grip of the stock. The barrel is dated "12-43". The rifle is fitted with an original, last issue, WWII, M73B1 Telescope. It is mounted in Type 1 rings on a Type 2 Redfield base. All are of WWII production. The rifle and scope are in very fine condition. The rifle retains about 98% of its original factory parkerized finish. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very fine with just a few tiny dings from storage. The "RA" and Ordnance stamp are a little faint. The M73B1 telescope is in fine condition. It is blued with more than 90% of the finish remaining. There are a few dust specks visible, but the optics are clear and the crosshairs are perfect. The scope is nicely marked. The rifle has an original, U.S. Model 1907 Leather Sling, but it is developing some dry rot and the leather is deteriorating. The surface is flaking and turning to dust, but it is complete! This is a very nice example of a WWII '03A4 Sniper Rifle. Stock no. 22428
