Item :	WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 RIFLE, .33 WCF

Description :

Here is an original Winchester Model 1886 Rifle manufactured in 1910 and chambered for the .33 Winchester Center Fire cartridge. It has a 24" round barrel and a shotgun butt. The rifle is in very good condition. The barrel and magazine tube retain aboutb 80% of their factory blued finish, The barrel blue is beginning to turn brown in a few areas. The receiver and nose cap have no remaining finish. The receiver is a pewter silver with an over speckling of brown patina. There are a couple of holes drilled in the top tang, probably for a sight. The lever is brown. The mechanism works pretty well, but the hammer sometimes follows the bolt down and remains at the half cock position. You can full cock it manually at that point. Sometimes it does stay fully cocked when the action is worked. The gun has a fine bore with strong rifling along its length. The stock is in very good condition. It has a number of small dings and scratches from use. One of the previous owners carved a geometric design into the belly of the fore arm. The hard rubber Winchester logo butt plate is complete with no chips or cracks. This is a solid gun that would be a perfect platform for a Turnbull restoration! Stock no. 22735
