MODEL 1826 FLINTLOCK NAVY PISTOL BY NORTH
Description :
This is an original, Model 1826 Flintlock Navy Pistol manufactured by Simeon North of Middletown , Connecticut in 1828. Only 3,000 of these were made between 1826 and 1829. This pistol was converted to percussion for service in the Civil War. This was an arsenal "cone in barrel" conversion. The pistol is .54 caliber with an 8 5/8" round barrel and fitted with a swivel ramrod. A distinguishing feature of this model is the long belt hook mounted on the left side of the gun. This pistol has seen much use and is in fair to good condition. The metal has significant overall pitting with a mottled steel and brown patina. The lock works well. The bore is dark and finely pitted. The stock is in very good condition. There is a hairline crack running forward from the front of the side plate to the barrel pin. It is about 1" long. There is a chip on the right side of the grip where the long iron back strap meets the butt cap. This is a scarce American martial pistol. Stock no. 22856
