Here is a Deluxe Model 1873 Winchester Short Rifle made by Aldo Uberti of Italy and imported by Taylor's & Co. of Winchester, Va. It is chambered for the .44 WCF (.44-40) cartridge. The deluxe rifle features a checkered pistol grip stock and a checkered forearm. The short rifle variation has a 20" octagonal barrel. This rifle is in excellent, like new condition. It is in the original box in which it was purchased from Taylor's, but the box is not the right one for the gun. This box is for a model 1866 Short Rifle with a different serial number, but this is how the rifle came. The original owner had never looked at it closely. Anyway, the rifle is beautiful. It retains 100% of its factory finish. The case colors on the receiver and lever are as good as any I have ever seen on a Uberti rifle, with vivid blues and browns. The remainder of the gun has a deep dark blue finish. The mechanics are excellent and the bore is mirror bright and perfect. The stocks are a deep reddish brown with some nice figure in the butt stock. There is one very, very tiny ding on the right side of the butt from handling. The box is complete, in great condition, and has all the paperwork. Unfortunately, the manual is for the Model 1866 as well! This is a superb rifle with a smooth action and the handling characteristics of a carbine. Indulge yourself with some Cowboy Action Shooting! Stock no. 23197
