U.S. WINCHESTER M-1 GARAND RIFLE

This is an original U.S. M-1 Garand Rifle manufactured by Winchester in November of 1943. It is chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. This is a typical, armory re-built M-1 with a mixture of parts, probably sold through the DCM. It has a milled Springfield trigger group and a Harrington & Richardson operating rod. The bolt is about the only correct part left, marked "D28287-1W.R.A.". The barrel is of Springfield manufacture and dated "2-55". The stock is a later walnut stock with the DOD cartouche and "P" firing proof. The rifle is in fine condition, retaining most of its parkerized finish. The receiver and bolt have a lighter color than the other parts. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The barrel gauges "1" at the muzzle and "1" at the throat. The stock is in fine condition with the usual small dings and scratches from use. No collectors item, this is a solid Winchester shooter. Stock no. 23298
