FINE U.S. REMINGTON NEW MODEL ARMY REVOLVER, .44 PERCUSSION
Description :
Here is an original, US Remington New Model Army Revolver. It is a .44 caliber percussion revolver with an 8" octagonal barrel. Approximately 122,000 of these were produced between 1863 and 1875. The Remington was the 2nd most carried revolver of the war. With its solid frame and back strap, it was also the strongest, and many thought the Remington to be superior to the Colt. This revolver is in fine condition with 65-75% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is light overall finish wear that is turning a smooth brown. The front grip strap has lost all of its finish and has a pewter gray patina. The mechanics are excellent. The bore and chambers are excellent as well. The walnut grips are very fine with just one tiny ding on the bottom edge of the left grip panel. There is a good inspector's cartouche on the left panel. This is a very nice example of the Remington New Model Army. Stock no. 27646
