VERY FINE, COLT U.S. MODEL 1909 REVOLVER, .45 LONG COLT, 1915 MFG.

This is a Colt U.S. Model 1909 Revolver (New Service Model) manufactured in 1915 and chambered for the .45 Long Colt cartridge. This is a Model 1909 "Transition" which incorporated a steel hammer block that raised when the hammer was down. This was to prevent the gun from firing when dropped on its hammer. This revolver is in very fine condition with about 85% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is finish loss and some brown spotting on the grip straps. There is very light holster wear at the muzzle and front edges of the cylinder. The bore, chambers, and mechanics are all excellent. The checkered walnut grips have Colt medallions and are in very fine condition with no chips or cracks. There are inspector's initials on the right side of the frame, "R.A.C.". This is a very nice example of a scarce U.S. military revolver. Stock no. 29968
