Item No.: 10320 Price : SOLD
Item : VERY FINE, AS BUILT, WWII, INLAND U.S. M-1 CARBINE
Description :
This is an original, WWII, U.S. M-1 Carbine manufactured by the Inland Division of General Motors in the summer of 1944. Chambered for the smaller .30 caliber carbine cartridge, the M-1 was intended to be issued to troops normally issued a handgun. It provided a lighter arm for with more firepower for heavy weapons crews and troops serving farther behind the lines. The carbine was very popular and was often used in combat by front line troops. This carbine appears to be unmodified from its original "as built" configuration. It is from the 3rd block of production, manufactured between January of 1944 and August of 1944. The barrel is dated "1-44". It has a Type I barrel band. It has a Type IV slide and a flat bolt. The rear sight is the early "flip" variety. It has a Type III push button safety and a Type IV magazine release marked "M". The stock is an oval cut, low wood type marked "IO" in the sling slot. There is an ordnance wheel on the right side of the butt and a "P" proof on the front of the grip. It has a 2-rivet handguard. The gun is in very fine condition with about 98% of its finish remaining. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very fine to excellent with just a small ding or two from use. The magazine is a WWII Type II with Saginaw Steering Gear markings. This is great, untouched, WWII M-1 Carbine in outstanding condition. Stock no. 30113
