Item No.: 10342 Price : $4,250.00
Item : WWII U.S. STEVENS MODEL 520-30 TRENCH SHOTGUN, 12 GAUGE, W/ BAYONET
Description :
Here is an original, U.S. Stevens Model 520-30 Trench Shotgun manufactured during World War II. It has a 20" cylinder bore barrel with a ventilated hand guard and bayonet mount. It has a plain, uncheckered stock and fore-end. The Stevens was used extensively in WWII and served through the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. This gun appears to be a correct WWII example. The markings are correct, the serial number is right in the correct range, and the bayonet mount has the distinct plum color from the anodizing process. The gun is in fine condition with more than 95% of its dark matte blued finish remaining. There are a few nicks and some light wear on the high points of the gun. This looks like original finish, but given their long service history, many were arsenal reworked. There are no marks to indicate that this is the case, but I just can't be certain. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very good but looks like it may have been lightly sanded and redone at some time. The butt has a little wiggle in it where the wrist joins the receiver. Included is an original, U.S. Model 1917 Bayonet made by Remington in 1918. It is in a 1st Pattern Model 1917 Scabbard made by Jewell in 1917. Bayonet and scabbard are in very good condition. The gray phosphate on the blade is heavily speckled with brown patina. About 60% of the blue remains on the handle and guard. The scabbard throat and tip have turned brown. The leather has some of the olive paint remaining but is mostly a very dark brown to black. The leather is soft. The markings remain legible. A Stevens Model 520-30 is essential to any collection of U.S. WWII Arms. Stock no. 30215
