Item No.: 10607 Price : $2,595.00
Item : FINE WINCHESTER MODEL 65 LEVER ACTION RIFLE, .218 BEE, W/SCOPE
Description :
This is a Winchester Model 65 Lever Action Rifle manufactured in 1937 and chambered for the .218 Bee cartridge. It has a 24" round barrel and feeds from a tubular half-magazine holding 7-rounds. The Model 65 is basically the Model 1892, but with a pistol grip stock. While the serial number dates this rifle to 1937, the .218 Bee was introduced in 1939, so it was probably built then on an existing receiver. This rifle is in fine condition with 70-80% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is some finish wear on the barrel near the front sight. There is some finish wear on the high exposed edges of the receiver and lever. The checkered metal butt plate also has some finish wear. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very fine with just a tiny ding or two from use. Which brings us to the scope... The rifle has been fitted with a telescopic sight. It looks like it may be a period scope with an odd type of mount that I have never seen before. The front base screws directly to the front of the shade tube. The rear mount is screwed to the left side of the receiver. There are no markings on the scope. It appears to be well made, has very fine cross hairs, and clear optics. The hammer has been modified or replaced for use with the scope. Don't get me started on people who put scopes on lever actions. This is a nice Model 65 in a very desirable chambering. Stock no. 31689
