| Description : | | Here is an original, Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine manufactured in 1929 and chambered for the .25-20 cartridge. The 1892 Winchester was scaled down from the John Browning designed Model 1886. It was meant as a replacement for the Model 1873 and was initially offered in the same three calibers, .32-20, .38-40, and .44-40. The .25-20 chambering was added in 1895. The Model 1892 was a superb rifle and proved to be very popular. It was produced from 1892 until 1941 with over 1,000,000 produced. This is a saddle ring carbine with a 20" round barrel. It is in fine condition with 60-70% of its factory blued finish remaining. The barrel and magazine tube retain most of their finish with a few small rust specks in places. The receiver has about 50% of its blue remaining which is turning or has turned brown. The remaining blue is on the sides and is developing a brownish cast. The lever and butt plate have a smooth brown patina with blue color remaining in protected areas. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock and forearm are in fine condition with a few small dings and dents from use. The ring loop itself is there, but the ring is missing. This is a good-looking Model 92 in nice condition.
