NAPOLEONIC ERA BRITISH 3RD MODEL BROWN BESS FLINTLOCK MUSKET

Description :

|
Here is an original, British 3rd Model (Pattern 1793, India Pattern Type I) Brown Bess Flintlock Musket assembled at and marked "TOWER". These were produced from 1793 until 1809. This one has a 39-inch barrel and a bore of about .80 caliber (They are officially .75 caliber). The single throated hammer also dates the musket prior to 1810. It could easily have been at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. It could also have seen service here in the War of 1812. This musket is in very good to fine condition. The metal, originally finished bright, has developed a mostly dark brown patina with some steel gray in places. There are some small areas that have pitted and now have a rougher patina. There is some pitting around the area of the pan. The lock works well. The bore is dark and heavily pitted. The stock is very good with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. This is a very nice example of a Napoleonic (or War of 1812!) Brown Bess. Stock no. 32671
