Description :

This is a rare, Colt U.S. Model 1902 Double Action Revolver manufactured in 1902 and chambered for the .45 Long Colt cartridge. It is a variant of the Model 1878 Double Action with a larger trigger guard and longer trigger. Colt made 5,000 for the U.S. Army. The Army issued a number of these to the Philippine Constabulary. It is a large frame, double-action, 6-shot revolver with a 6-inch barrel. It has bird's head style grips. This revolver is in very fine condition with about 90% of its original factory blued finish remaining. This is the original finish. The revolver has never been arsenal reworked or refinished. There is some light wear on the exposed edges of the gun and on the trigger guard. The grip straps have turned a smooth brown. All of the markings are crisp, including the inspector's initials, the 1902 date, and the "U.S." on the right side of the frame. The mechanics are excellent. The bore is in very fine condition with a little browning but strong rifling along the barrel's length. The black hard rubber grips are very fine with just a tiny ding or two from use. there are no chips or cracks. Included is an original, correct Model 1875 Holster (Modified) for this particular revolver. It is arsenal modified with a gusset in the seam to accommodate the larger trigger guard of the revolver. Also included is the original belt and buckle. All are in very good condition. The leather remains supple. There is a little surface flaking in places. There is also a factory letter from Colt showing that this revolver was part of a shipment of 200 guns sent to Springfield Armory on October 8, 1902. This is a very rare revolver with an equally rare holster. Stock no. 32833
