Item No.: 10820 Price : $525.00
Item : FRENCH MODEL AN 13 PERCUSSION CONVERSION PISTOL
Description :
Here is an original, French Model An XIII (13) Flintlock Pistol of the Napoleonic era. Adopted in 1805 (The 13th year of the French First Republic calendar), the An13 was a large, .69 caliber, cavalry pistol with a walnut half-stock and brass mountings. This pistol was made at the Imperial Arsenal at St. Etienne and is nicely marked. In the 1840's large numbers of these pistols were converted to percussion using a cone-in-barrel conversion. The pistols were rifled and given front and rear sights. Some of these converted pistols served the French military until the adoption of the Model 1873 Ordnance Revolver. This was after the Franco-Prussian War! This pistol is in fine condition. It retains about 90% of its armory bright finish. There are several small spots of light surface rust on the barrel. The brass has a nice golden brass patina. The lock works correctly. The bore is rusty. It measures .70 caliber, which indicates it was rifled, but I can't see any rifling that remains. A good cleaning might bring it out. The stock is very good with a few small dings and scratches from use. Stock no. 32919
