Item :	C.G. BONEHILL DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN, 10 GAUGE, CA. 1885

Description :

This is a double barrel shotgun made by C.G. Bonehill of London, England in about 1885. The markings date it to between 1880 and 1887. Bonehill was a well-known English gunmaker located at 110 Cannon Street in London. This is Bonehill's Field Grade 10 Gauge double barrel with external hammers and Damascus barrels. These were quite popular with market hunters of the late 1800's. This shotgun is in very good to fine condition. It retains about 80% of its cased color on the locks. The frame has a steel gray patina. The Damascus pattern on the barrels is visible in protected areas with much of the barrel having a light brown/steel patina. This gun has excellent mechanics with very tight lock up. The bores are a little dusty but appear to be in excellent condition, as well. The stock is very good with a few small dings and scratches from use. Unfortunately, someone fitted a thick, red rubber recoil pad to the butt back in the 1940's or 1950's. Having been made in the 1880's, this gun probably has shorter chambers. It is in great shooting condition but will require shorter shells and BLACK POWDER ONLY! Stock no. 32953
