Here is an original, WWI, German Gewehr 98 Long Infantry Rifle manufactured by Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) of Berlin, Germany in 1916. The GEW98 was the standard German battle rifle of the First World War. It is chambered for the 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) cartridge. This rifle is in fine condition. It appears to have been arsenal refurbished. The receiver is now blued instead of finished in the bright. The parts are not matching. The rifle retains about 90% of its blued finish with light overall finish wear. The magazine floor plate and trigger guard are turning a light brown. The mechanics are excellent with a mis-matched bolt. The bore is very good with strong rifling along its length. The stock has been lightly sanded and oiled. It is in fine condition with a couple of small gouges on the left side near the muzzle along the barrel channel. These have been sanded smooth. Included is a high-quality replica leather sling. It is in excellent condition. This is a good-looking example of the Gewehr 98. Stock no. 33013
