Item No.: 10833 Price : $1,395.00
Item : FINE, WILLIAM UHLINGER POCKET REVOLVER, .32 RIMFIRE
Description :
Here is an original, Pocket Revolver made by William P. Uhlinger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is chambered for the .32 Rimfire cartridge. Uhlinger made 10,000 revolvers of all types between 1861 and 1865. Interestingly, the design of these revolvers infringed on a patent held by Smith & Wesson. To avoid detection, Uhlinger would mark these guns with the name of some little-known individual. This revolver is marked "D.D. Cone" / "Washington, DC". D.D. Cone was a patent attorney in Washington, DC at this time. This Uhlinger Pocket revolver is a single-action, 6-shot revolver with a 5-inch octagonal barrel. It had a blued barrel and cylinder. I believe the frame was plated. The barrel retains more than 90% of its factory blued finish. There are two pea-sized rust spots on the barrel. The frame plating has dulled a bit. There is some brown patina on either side of the frame just in front of the cylinder. There is some very fine pitting on about 1/4 of the top strap. There are a few speckles on the grip straps. The revolver has excellent mechanics and a fine bore. The grips are in very fine condition with just a tiny ding or two and most of their varnished finish remaining. This is a very scarce Civil War era revolver in nice condition. Stock no. 32842
