Description :

|
This is an original, Allen & Wheelock Center Hammer Army Revolver made by Allen & Wheelock of Worcester, Massachusetts. Produced in 1861 and 1862, the Allen & Wheelock is a large framed, single-action, six-shot percussion revolver of .44 caliber. The trigger guard actually functions as the loading lever. It is believed that only about 700 of these were made. Some think that number may be higher. This revolver is in fine condition with 30-40% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is moderate, overall finish wear from handling. The hammer retains nearly all of its cased color. The cased color on the trigger guard/loading lever is mostly there but has darkened to an almost blued shade. This revolver has excellent mechanics. The bore and chambers are in very fine condition. The walnut grips are fine with a few small dings and scratches. This is a scarce, Civil War revolver. It is believed that a small number of these were issued to the 2nd and 3rd Regiments of Michigan Cavalry. This one is in very nice condition. Stock no. 32849
