RARE US MODEL 1811 "TRANSITIONAL" FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY SIMEON NORTH

.69 Caliber Smoothbore US Martial Pistol. 8 5/8 Inch Round Barrel proofed at breech, "P/US". Lock has crisp "Eagle/U. States" in the center and "S. North/Berlin/Con" to the rear of the hammer. Both barrel, lock and Type II Double band have been cleaned to bright. Barrel and band show light to moderate pitting, mostly out near the muzzle. Lock and hammer are also moderately pitted. I guess this pistol was deeply patinated and somebody decided to improve it. Deep umber brass pan. Original flint lock, not a re-conversion. Brass pommel and trigger guard and side plate. Very good oil finished stock with what appears to be an old repair to the rear of the left flat. Clear "HHP" inspectors mark at the left flat. Hickory or Ash ram rod. One of the rarest of all US Martial Single Shot Pistols with only 550 produced of this "M1812" type.
