.60 Caliber, half stocked British Sporting Rifle. 30 Inch octagon barrel with most of the original "plum & lightening" lacquer finish still on it. Top flat signed simply "Baker London". Dovetailed silver front sight and ramp style rear sight applied to barrel. Platinum band inlays at the breech. Handsome flat percussion lock with fine scroll engraving on lock, hammer, patch box, trigger guard and butt plate. Lock again signed, "Baker". Detachable, highly refined lollipop rear sight at the wrist. Handsome walnut half stock with cheek rest and checkered wrist shows little if any use. Rosewood ram rod appears to be original to the rifle. This is the era when the British Gun Smiths made works of art, not guns.
