Description :

.32 Caliber 5-Shot Whitney Percussion Pocket Revolver. "S 20" Numbered on barrel and Trigger Guard and Cylinder Spring Clip. . 4 Inch octagonal barrel crisply marked, "E. Whitney N. Haven CT" in a single line on the top flat. Cylinder is etched with an acanthus leaf and military pattern mixed with border lines. Both barrel and cylinder are a handsome dove gray patina. Brass frame and back strap appear to have been silver plated at one time and still has traces of that finish around the protected areas. Trigger guard appears to have been left in the bright. Two piece factory varnished grips are in very good condition with only a small chip out at the toe. Only 600 of these rare guns were produced 1852-54 because of the Colt Factory's Strangle Hold on the Revolver Patents. This Revolver was Manually Rotated. The forward trigger acted as the cylinder stop and release. The trigger within the trigger bow fired the weapon. Sam Colt was extremely protective of his Patents and sued several smaller gun companies out of business. RARE!
