This is an original, Civil War, Colt U.S. Model 1860 Army .44 Caliber Revolver manufactured in 1861. The Model 1860 was the standard issue revolver of the U.S. Army during the Civil War. About 156,000 were produced by the end of the war, but production continued until 1873. This revolver is an early production gun numbered in the 20,xxx range. This gun is all matching and in very good condition with an overall smooth brown patina. The mechanics work, but could use a little tweaking. The bore is dark and pitted, but the rifling remains visible. The grips have been notched at the butt to allow a lanyard to be fitted, but are otherwise complete. This is a nice wartime Colt.
