RARE, COLT MODEL 1848 BABY DRAGOON .31 CAL. POCKET REVOLVER

Here is a Colt Model 1848 Baby Dragoon percussion pocket pistol manufactured in 1848. It is a 5 shot, .31 caliber revolver with a 3 inch barrel. The Baby Dragoon was the first pocket pistol to be manufactured at the Colt Hartford Plant. They are much smaller copies of the .44 Dragoon pistols. Only about 15,000 were produced. This one is in very good to fine condition. All numbers are matching except the wedge. The pistol retains traces of blued finish on the frame and hammer. There is some pitting in several small areas. The barrel and cylinder have a pewter patina. The brass trigger guard and grip straps retain 60-70% of its silver plating. The bore and chambers are dark. The mechanics work very well. The grips are complete with no chips or cracks, but have a few small dings from use. Baby Dragoons are quite rare and highly sought after by collectors.
