Item :	1857 PRODUCTION, COLT LONDON 1851 NAVY REVOLVER

Description :

This is an original, Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver of .36 Caliber. It is a London navy produced by Colt in their London facility. The London Colts were only produced fro 1853 until 1857. Colt's London operation was sued out of business by English Gun Makers, fearful of losing business. London Colts differed from American made guns. They had larger trigger guards and blued steel gripstraps. This pistol is in antique good condition. It has had some restoration done. The loading lever is a replacement. The lever screws, wedge, and wedge screw are modern replacements. The hammer appears to be a little thinner than usual and may also be a replacement. The gun was heavily cleaned sometime in the past. Only about 30% of the cylinder scene remains. The metal has re-developed a smooth brown patina overall. The action works well. The bore is good with visible rifling along its length. There is a little pitting near the muzzle. The grips appear to be original and show some wear from use. There is a chip at the heel of the butt of the left grip. It is old and has been worn smooth over the years. The barrel, frame. cylinder, and grip straps match. This is a decent London Navy. It has a good look and displays well. Stock no. 21078
