Item :	FINE, KOREAN WAR U.S. REMINGTON MODEL 1903A4 SNIPER RIFLE

Description :

This is an original, U.S. Model 1903A4 Sniper Rifle built by Remington Arms in 1944. It was later arsenal rebuilt and fitted with an M-84 Scope. These rifles served in Korea, with some lasting in service into the Vietnam War. A remnant of the WWII inspector's cartouche is visible under a later arsenal marking. The Remington made barrel is dated "1-1944". There are rebuild markings from both Raritan and Rock Island Arsenal. The Raritan Arsenal marking is applied over the original WWII cartouche. The RIA cartouche is on the left side of the butt. Both of these marks indicate post-war rework and inspection. This rifle is in very fine to excellent condition retaining nearly 100% of its re-parkerized finish. Both the bore and the mechanics are excellent. The stock is in fine condition with just a couple of small scrapes and dings from storage. There is a larger scrape on the right side of the stock behind the barrel band and two deep scratches on the belly of the forearm just ahead of the barrel band caused by the removal of the band. It appears both were done prior to the reconditioning of the stock. The M-84 Scope is in very fine condition with good clear optics nearly 100% of its black finish. It is nicely marked and has the correct scope rings. Included is an original, leather U.S. model 1907 Sling that is inspected and dated "1918". This is as nice an example of a late '03A4 as you are likely to find. Stock no. 21871
