SIMEON NORTH U.S. MODEL 1816 FLINTLOCK PISTOL
Description :
This is an original, .54 caliber, U.S. Model 1816 Flintlock Pistol manufactured by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut. Between the years 1817 and 1820, North produced 19,374 of these pistols. This pistol is in fair to good condition. It is missing the top jaw and screw of the cock. The metal has an overall, rough dark brown patina. The lock markings, often faint on these pistols, are no longer visible. The lock functions well. The bore is very dark and pitted. The stock is very dark and has a number of small dings and chips from use. The remnant of an inspector's cartouche is visible on the left flat of the stock. The ramrod is a replica. While not in the best condition, it is a good representative example of one of these early U.S. martial Pistols. Stock no. 20593
