Description :

|
This is an original antique "SOUTHERNER" Deringer made by the Brown Manufacturing Company of Newburyport, Massachusetts. These were produced from 1866 to 1873. This was a single shot deringer with a pivoting octagonal barrel chambered for the .41 Rimfire cartridge. Most had blued barrels with silver plated frames. This deringer is in very good condition. The barrel, hammer, and trigger have a smooth dark brown patina. No silver remains on the frame which has weathered to a beautiful dark bronze patina. The action works well. The bore is good with some rust, but visible rifling. The rosewood grips are very good with some wear of the varnished finish and a few tiny dings from use. Only about 6,500 of these little deringers were made. Stock no. 28702
