Item :	COLT BISLEY MODEL SINGLE ACTION ARMY, "FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER", .44-40

Description :

This is an original, 1st Generation Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army Revolver made in 1905. In addition to the Bisley marking on the left side of the barrel, it is marked "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". This marking was used on those revolvers chambered for the .44-40 (.44 WCF) cartridge. The Bisley Model featured a longer grip strap that curved forward more than a standard single action. It had a smaller raked back hammer and was intended more for the target shooter. It was named after Bisley, England, the 19th century site of the international shooting matches. This revolver is very good to fine condition with about 30% of its original factory blued finish remaining on the trigger guard and protected areas like the cylinder flutes. The remainder has turned a smooth brown. Some cased color, about 10%, remains in the protected areas of the frame. The gun has excellent mechanics. The bore and chambers are very fine to excellent. The black hard rubber grips are excellent with no chips or cracks. They have the oval with the Rampant Colt emblem. This is a nice example of a Colt Bisley. Stock no. 29343
